Parlor Entertainment in the 1900s

Monday, October 18, 2021 at 7 p.m.

Where:  Methodist Meeting House, 495 Main Street, Wareham, MA  02571

Come and enjoy an evening of history and entertainment, with the Wareham Historical Society Mon. Oct 18th, 7:00, at the Meeting House, 495 Main St. Wareham MA.

The parlor was a room that you entered only rarely. You weren’t meant to be comfortable there. But every house had to have one, no matter how high the cost.  What would you use it for? Entertainment became its primary use.

Mack and Cathy Phinney will relate the history of the types of entertainment available, from the mid 19th century through the early 20th century using the newest forms of media technology available at that time. Some of these historic devices were found in the Fearing Tavern and have been restored to working condition.

Refreshments will be served after the program. We look forward to seeing you!!  For more information, call Angela M. Dunham, President at 508-295-8578.
