Wareham has plenty of history. . . Wareham, England that is! Join the Wareham Historical Society on Monday, June 24th at 7 pm to hear “A Potted History of Wareham, Dorset, England” presented by Jon Wright. Mr. Wright is an expert on the history of our sister town of Wareham, England and will be visiting our own Wareham with his wife Marie this summer. He is also interested in learning more about our town so that upon his return to England, he can present a talk about Wareham, MA.
Wareham, England is a historic market town located on the River Frome. The first mention of the town in written records was in the year 784. A rich detailing of history dating from the Anglo-Saxon period, through its civil war, and two world wars will be fascinating to anyone interested in our town’s namesake.
The presentation is open to the public. Admission: Free to Wareham Historical Society Members; Non-Members–$2. Refreshments will be served after the program.
