Mr. Ridley, a resident of East Harwich, is descended from a long line of New England seafarers and ship builders. His articles have appeared in The Nation, New Republic, Newsday, and the Denver Post. He is co-author of America’s First Visit to Japan: Voyage of the Lady Washington and the Grace.
