The Wareham Historical Society will proudly host a public speaker program by John C. Decas on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 7 p.m. at The Methodist Meeting House. Mr. Decas, former co-owner of Carver based Decas Cranberry Products, Inc., is a well-known leader in the cranberry industry. He will speak about his family’s heritage, the cranberry industry and growing up in Wareham. Mr. Decas will also do a presentation about experiencing the 1954 hurricanes Carol and Edna.
As we celebrate Veterans’ Day, let us remember The Decas family has long been generous benefactors to our community for many projects, including the Decas School, named in honor of John William Decas, who was killed in World War II at the age of 19 at the Battle of the Bulge.
